Danish Wild Ale with sour cherries from Denmark

Nordens Kriek is our local take on the classic kriek. The Stevns cherry – often hailed as “the grape of the north” – is an heirloom variety of sour cherry that can trace its origins to the coastlines of southern Denmark. Their elegant dark color and high acid content make these cherries ideal for the production of wine – or in our case, beer. We started with a base of one-year-old Danish Wild Ale and macerated it for over a month with a large proportion of crushed Stevns cherries from Frederiksdal Estate, then matured the blend in oak foeders before bottling. The complexity of the beer and intense flavor of the cherries come together to create this truly emblematic Kriek of the North.
